Her career began to take shape in 2016 with a commercial debut, followed by a minor role in the 2019 drama Hell Is Other People. However, it wasn’t until 2021 that Kim Ji-eun encountered the opportunity that would prove transformative.
She auditioned for MBC’s The Veil, a drama that became a turning point in her career. Her audition came through a recommendation by actor Namgoong Min, who remarked,
“She has the passion, but it seems things haven’t worked out for her yet.”
This opportunity led her to be cast in the pivotal role of Yoo Je-yi, marking her official breakthrough.
Balancing Stardom and Survival
Remarkably, even during the filming of The Veil, Kim Ji-eun continued working part-time at a café. Her dedication did not go unnoticed. The performance earned her Best New Actress at the MBC Drama Awards and a Rising Star Award at the Asia Model Awards, firmly establishing her as a talent to watch.
Since then, Kim has continued to rise, taking on lead roles in dramas such as Again My Life, One Dollar Lawyer, Branding in Seongsu-dong, Love Next Door, and her first historical drama Check-in Hanyang.
